De bruiloft van Jitsina en Gijs begon voor mij eigenlijk al de dag ervoor. Jitsina wilde heel graag vanuit haar ouderlijk huis in Friesland trouwen. Gijs zou haar daar ‘s ochtends ophalen (vanuit Twente) en daarom leek het hem een goed idee de avond ervoor in Friesland te overnachten, samen met zijn ouders en zijn zus die helemaal overkwam uit Chicago! Heel bijzonder was, dat ik ook was uitgenodigd in dezelfde bed&breakfast te overnachten! Zo lief en heel fijn om de dag ontspannen te beginnen!
Bed&Breakfast Bij en Boom in Drachten is een knusse en hele mooie plek. De eigenaren Bart en Karin wonen in het huis naast de B&B. Toen ik aankwam werd ik hartelijk ontvangen en riep Bart dat ik die nacht naast de koningin zou slapen! Wat dat betekende legde Karin me uit toen ze mij rondleidde. Ik sliep in kamer Bij en aan mijn kamer achter glas (gelukkig!) grensde een hok waar allemaal glazen potjes in stonden. Via een buis in de muur konden de bijen naar binnen, in de potjes en naar buiten vliegen! Heel grappig!
Vanuit kamer Boom kon je met een houten bruggetje naar een hele gafe boomhut, waar je zomers nog lekker ‘s avonds in het zonnetje over de weilanden kan uitkijken. Karin en Bart hebben hier echt over nagedacht en naast deze bijzonderheden en gastvriendelijkheid heeft Bij en Boom ook heerlijke bedden, verse bloemetjes uit eigen tuin, goede tips in de omgeving en een fantastisch ontbijt! Een aanrader dus!
Gijs and Jitsina’s wedding actually started already one day before their big day. Jitsina wished to get ready at her parents house in Friesland. Gijs would pick her up in Friesland (driving from Twente) and because of the distance they found it a good idea to stay and sleep at a bed&breakfast the night before. His parents and his sister (all the way from Chicago!) joined him and they also invited me to come over! So sweet and very nice to start the day this relaxed!
Bed&Breakfast Bij & Boom (Bee&Tree) in Drachten is a cosy and beautiful place to stay. The owners Bart and Karin live in the house next to it. When I arrived they welcomed me and Bart told me I would be sleeping next to the queen! Karin explained this when she showed me around. My room ‘Bee’ had a separate space for bees (fortunately!) behind glass. There were glass pots and the bees reached them through a tube in the wall, so they could fly in and outside. Fun to see!
There was another room ‘Tree’ which had a little wooden bridge to a very cool tree house where you can sit and enjoy sunset over the meadows. Karin and Bart really thought about this B&B and besides these special things and their hospitality, Bij & Boom also has lovely beds, fresh flowers from their own garden, good suggestions in the neighbourhood and a fantastic breakfast! This place is highly recommended!
